In this course you will learn the truth about parenting style.


This course defines and describes the four major parenting styles. It presents behavioral outcomes of each style. It also discusses the style which has the best effect on healthy development in all areas. Also presented is when parents/caretakers have different parenting styles and how that can be effectively managed. A special section is devoted to parenting styles and the onset of substance abuse. Nutrition and parenting styles will also be presented, as well as how to parent children with different and special needs including physiological issues, parenting teens versus parenting toddlers, etc. Finally, emotional intelligence in conjunction with parenting styles will be presented, as well. 


Goals/Objectives

 * Educate students all content areas listed in the course description.

* Educate students on the how to learn to implement the parenting style which produces an optimal result

  and helps prevent the onset of substance use.

* Demonstrate empirical evidence in major content areas.
