Parents and Caregivers |
Health and Wellness Online for ParentsWe provide online courses and instruction to parents, caregivers and providers (yes, that is your doctors) who care for today's youth. We began over 15 years ago as a graduate level professor teaching at several colleges and universities along the way. We are a leading continuing education course provider for the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and have instructed numerous professionals on healing and mental health. We have structured our courses and information to assist you as parents to understand and care for children and teens with mental health challenges.
We commonly receive questions and concerns from parents who have a child recently diagnosed with ADHD whose medications aren't working, a child who faces an addiction, or a parent wondering how can they help their child who has contemplated suicide. All of these are addressed here and more. We help you understand what it is, how it affects your child, their relationships, different aspects of their lives, and proven, scientific based approaches that you can take at home to encourage healing. We take pride in providing a holistic approach to healing and wellness. That means that we are going to provide you with strategies that are going to provide healing in a way that leads away from chemical dependence. We provide instruction based in real research and proven strategies. We are going to provide you with ways to give the brain, body and emotions what they need to thrive and become healthy in a holistic way. When completing one of our courses, you will better understand your child or yourself and how you can encourage healthy behaviors to assist in challenges they may be facing. Basic Building Blocks for Mental Health
Mental health, especially for children, has been trending in the news lately. In Columbus, Ohio, a large, brand new kids mental health center opened at Children’s Hospital. In a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers found that one in every six kids here in America between ages 6 and 17 has a mental health disorder that can be identified and treated. Some examples of these conditions are depression, anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and bipolar disorder.

Parents are understandably concerned for the welfare of their kids. And the usual treatment protocol for mental health/behavioral issues is medication and talk therapy. However, we all know that this does not always work so well. Medication has many adverse side effects and talk therapy may or may not help. After all, kids are kids, not adults, even if they look very grown up. Are you aware that there are other highly effective, low-cost, and non-toxic approaches to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of mental health disorders like depression, ADHD, and more? It’s true!
