The Heroin Epidemic Is Still Raging

6/2/2019

In spite of all our efforts, the heroin/opioid/opiate epidemic is still raging across, not only America, but the world in general. There are problems in Africa, Indonesia, France, Canada, Australia, etc. Back in 2015, it was reported that about 2.5 million across the world were grappling with opioid use … I wonder what the real numbers are today in 2019. They can’t be good.

Treating this issue using conventional methods (i.e., medication derived from opioids, etc.) has been met with limited success. Talk therapy alone is usually not effective with such a strong addictive response. However, there are some very promising treatment pathways which use nutrition, amino acids, other supplements, and more and are getting some excellent results – usually seen in lower relapse and depression rates.

This science is still very young! However, there have been some very promising research and case study results which are encouraging treating and research professionals to move forward in this realm. For example, a 2012 study by Miller et al. reported that “Early Intervention of Intravenous KB220IV-Neuroadaptagen Amino-Acid Therapy (NAAT) Improves Behavioral Outcomes in a Residential Addiction Treatment Program: A Pilot Study.”

Another study by Wang et al. in 2014 conducted a meta-analysis of the effect of physical exercise on substance use treatment long-term. It concluded that “physical exercise can effectively increase the abstinence rate …, ease withdrawal symptoms …, and reduce anxiety … and depression.”

Beginnings Treatment Centers describes their holistic approach in a short video. Go here. See how the Holistic Sanctuary deals with addiction (including heroin) utilizing natural approaches. See also Dr. Joseph Mercola’s article on this topic called, Chasing the Dragon – America’s Struggle with Opioid Addiction. Go here.

If you are interested in taking a course on natural approaches to treating heroin addiction, please go here. If you need continuing education hours with the NBCC or the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board, you will receive 3 hours of credit! If you do not need continuing education hours, you will still be able to learn a great deal about this terrible epidemic still raging across America and globally.
