5 Fat Burning Foods

If you're reading this post, you are probably like me: wanting to shed a few extra pounds (or more). Luckily for us, we can choose specific foods to help burn fat faster! Of course, there are many variables involved in weight loss, but building your diet around foods with fat-burning properties is a great first step!
  1. Bone broth is one of my favorite ways to burn extra fat. This tends to be popular in colder months, but is just as delicious and beneficial in the summertime. It nourishes our muscles, connective tissue, and bones. It also revs up our metabolism and helps us detox. I purchase it as a protein powder, and have also made it from scratch. Both ways are yummy!
  2. Chia seeds are another excellent choice if you want to rev up your metabolism naturally. They increase your energy and endurance, and they help your body make gel water, which provides hydration in addition to drinking water. Chia seeds can also reduce hunger pains and sugar cravings.
  3. Coconut oil is well-known as a very healthy fat. It can actually increase your “good” HDL cholesterol and, in spite of being a saturated fat, can help protect your heart. (Did you know your brain is largely made up of cholesterol? Yes, we need it!) Coconut is a fat, but it's also a fat blaster. Over time, it helps to decrease appetite, and thus, your calorie intake.
  4. Green leafy vegetables help you burn fat and boost your vitamin intake, too! Greens such as kale and spinach (and more) help keep muscles fit, and they have naturally occurring vitamin K, which helps bones stay strong.
  5. Matcha green tea is an energy-producing powerhouse that can reduce body fat and help lower cholesterol. It can also help your body repair itself after high-intensity workouts.
Whatever food choices you make, remember that high quality nutrition makes a huge difference in being holistically healthy and happy. For more detailed information and research,  check out my Holistic Resources.
